Elizabethan sapphire ring English, circa 1570. High box bezel set with a table cut sapphire probably enamelled at some point with faint traces of blue and white remaining. Shoulders with volutes and bosses unadorned. Renaissance rings clearly differentiate hoop, shoulders and bezel, as seen here. Found on the banks of the Tyne, from a private English collection.
