 Description

Ancient Roman gold ring with agate intaglio of Minerva. Set with an oval banded agate intaglio to centre of the standing goddess Minerva with long robes and helmet, holding a winged statue of Victory, a spear and a shield, in a closed back Roman set setting, flanked by heavy shaped tapered shoulders, to a D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 7.79 grams in weight, circa 2nd-3rd century.

A similar ring can be found in Taylor, G. & Scarisbrick, D. 'Finger Rings from Ancient Egypt to the Present Day' Type 33.
