 Description

Aquamarine and diamond pendant. Set to centre with a drop shape old cut natural aquamarine in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 36.00 carats, further set with one round old cut diamond in an open back rubover setting with an approximate weight of 0.05 carats , adorned further with seven round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.17 carats, set further with four round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.08 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.30 carats, to an impressive pendant featuring millegrain edging and granule details, a decorative pierced gallery and open backholing, fitted to top with an integrated bale and fine trace chain with secure push clasp and safety catch, pendant approximately 5.5cm in length, chain approximately 18" in length. Pendant marked 14 carat gold and platinum, chain tested silver, French import marks, circa 1920.

 Comments

The pendant clearly shows a bearded man and scalloped shell stamped on the side of the metalwork. The bearded man is the French import mark for platinum whereas the scalloped shell signifies the use of 585, or what today is refereed to as 14 carat gold.
