 Description

Art Nouveau diamond, pearl and enamel pendant/brooch by Gautrait. Set with seventeen round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.17 carats, additionally set with six round old cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.50 carats, interspersed with five round natural unenhanced pearl beads. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.67 carats, to an articulated oval openwork pendant with fine accents of white enamel, and with a green plique-à-jour enamelled urn to centre issuing a floral garland, decorated below with a greek key pattern and foliate swags, all within ridged borders with decorative floral designs to either side and suspending a single pearl bead, the pendant suspended from a fine trace link chain interspersed with pearl beads and joining to a chased trilobite bow, continuing to a secure circular spring clasp, approximately 25.3cm in length. Tested 18 carat yellow gold with platinum settings, signed 'Gautrait', in a fitted brown leather box marked ‘BEAUMONT & CIE/ JOAILLIERS/ 17, RUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE/ LYON’, with original tools and brooch mount, French, circa 1900.
