 Description

Boucheron diamond and gold clip earrings. A matching pair, each set with thirty one round mixed old cut diamonds in open back claw settings, sixty two in total with a combined approximate weight of 5.80 carats, to a pierced bombé cluster design featuring circular openwork, polished edges and round open backholing, fitted to reverse with a secure hinged clip fitting, approximately 2.2cm in diameter. Marked 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, signed 'BOUCHERON, PARIS', maker's mark for André Vassort, French, circa 1950.

André Vassort became one of the most recognised and famous craftsmen of high-quality French jewellery in the mid-20th Century. He worked for many famous jewellery houses including Boucheron.

 Comments

The Vassort atelier made jewellery for the top French maisons, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Mauboussin and Boucheron, among others. They specialised in working with gold and drawing out warmth, movement and texture from the metal creating highly refined and dynamic pieces. The aterlier closed in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of superior craftsmanship and quality.
