 Description

Burmese pink sapphire and diamond cluster earrings. A matching pair, each set to center with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Burmese pink sapphire in an open back rubover setting, two in total with a combined approximate weight of 2.20 carats, encircled by a row of twelve round transitional cut diamonds in open back rubover settings, twenty four in total with a combined approximate weight of 1.92 carats, suspended from three round transitional cut diamonds in open and closed back rubover settings, six in total with a combined approximate weight of 0.28 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 2.20 carats, to an elegant drop cluster design featuring openwork, a pierced linear gallery with fancy open backholing, fitted to reverse with a secure post and butterfly, approximately 2cm in length. Marked yellow gold butterflies, fittings tested platinum, maker's mark 'C.S.' for Charles Samson, French, circa 1920, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services report #5782-2577.

Charles Samson crafted in Pastourelle, Paris, between the years of 1898-1913. Specialising in earrings and shirt buttons, he hallmarked all of his pieces with his signature mark of a cross surmounted by a star.
