 Description

Ceylon sapphire and diamond coronet cluster ring. Set to center with an impressive oval old cut natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back claw setting with a weight of 4.76 carats, surrounded by twelve cushion shaped old mine diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 1.30 carats, flanked by two cushion shaped old mine diamonds in open back grain and rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.10 carats. The total approximate combined diamond weight of 1.40 carats to an elegant coronet cluster design featuring curving claws, a pierced gallery and fancy open backholing, leading to a linear engraved shoulders and a solid D-shaped shank. Tested as gold and platinum, circa 1915, accompanied by Swiss Gemological Institute (SSEF) report #115296.
