 Description

Diamond arrow brooch. Set to centre with a cushion shape old mine diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 1.05 carats, further decorated with fifty-eight round rose cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.60 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.65 carats, to an ornate arrow design featuring intricate ribbon detailing with polished edges, smooth galleries and open backholing, fitted to reverse with a secure pin, approximately 6.5cm in length. Marked 18 carat gold and silver, French import marks, circa 1900.

 Comments

This piece is stamped with an owl, the French import mark for gold, and a swan, the French import mark for silver. These were used on pieces that had been imported from a non-treaty country, (those which did not have an agreed right of having duties or fees refunded).
