 Description

Gold posy ring 'A token of my love'. A smooth yellow gold band engraved to the interior in florid italic script 'A token of my love', approximately 4.2mm in width. Tested yellow gold, maker's mark 'S.F' inside a shield, approximately 3.09g in weight, circa 18th century.

See British Museum reference AF.1331 for a posy ring with the identical maker's mark. This mark also appears on the 1682 mark plate at the Goldsmiths' Hall, London, column 6, number 83 and had the possible active working dates of 1682-1709.
