 Description

Gubelin sapphire and diamond bombé cocktail ring. Set to centre with one round transitional cut diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.80 carats, flanked by a cluster of forty round old cut natural unenhanced sapphires in open back grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 6.00 carats, further flanked by twelve round transitional cut diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined weight of 1.80 carats, alternated by twelve rectangular baguette cut diamonds in open back half rubover settings with a combined weight of 1.20 carats. The total combined diamond weight is 3.8 carats, to a impressive bombé cocktail design featuring polished edges, a structural gallery with chenier detailing and open backholing, leading to ridged trumpeting shoulders and flowing through to a solid grooved shank. Marked platinum, makers mark for Gubelin, inscribed 'Bader Zurich', French import marks, circa 1950.
