At Berganza we have a vast collection of carved half hoop rings. A charming design, carved half hoops showcase a band of gemstones and/or diamonds set horizontally across the finger, and epitomises the very best of Victorian craftsmanship.
These rings would all have been carved out of a single block of gold, and feature ornate carvings to their galleries, each with its own unique design. From scrolling swirls to palmette decoration, the rich hue of yellow gold provides the perfect backdrop for the vast array of precious stones that feature in them.
Victorian half hoop carved rings were set with a range of different gemstones and diamonds, in many variations. From three stones, five stones, and indeed seven stones, there are untold combinations. Some feature old cut and old mine cut diamonds alongside coloured gems, others showcase a brilliant block of colour, perhaps interspersed with rose cut diamonds for that extra sparkle!
The Victorians would have sourced these gemstones from world renowned old mines, and the rings in our collection feature Colombian emeralds, Burmese rubies and Ceylon sapphires. It would have been a great skill to carefully choose a selection of gemstones, perfectly matching in colour to create these rings, and makes for a truly stunning effect!
As well as featuring remarkable handcrafted details and rare natural gemstones, carved half hoop rings are also very versatile. An increasingly popular choice for engagement rings, they are accommodating of wedding bands and any other ring you may wish to stack with it. Alternatively they make wonderful dress rings or right hand rings for someone looking to inject some colour and sparkle into their life!
Whether you favour a bold look of unbroken colour, or the dazzling contrast of diamonds and gems, you are sure to find the ring for you amongst our collection of Victorian half hoop carved rings.
