74th Golden Globe Awards: Stars Sparkle in Period Jewels

Celebrating the very best talent

Thursday 12th January 2017

This past Sunday the red carpet sparkled as Hollywood’s royalty gathered for the 74th Golden Globe Awards, launching the entertainment industry’s 2017 awards season. Beginning in 1944, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association created the Golden Globe Awards to recognise and honour the best achievements in filmmaking from the previous year. Today the ceremony has grown to include television and film, celebrating the very best talent the industry has to offer.

Each year the red carpet is highly anticipated with stars draped in the finest haute couture and adorned with exquisite jewels. This year fine jewellery firm Tiffany & Co. made a strong appearance, decorating many of the celebrity guests. Winner Emma Stone was pictured wearing a vintage diamond necklace featuring an elaborate central drop matched with simple diamond studs and a number of diamond rings all from the Tiffany & Co. archives. Reese Witherspoon also chose a Tiffany archival necklace set with a selection of diamonds and fancy yellow diamonds in a mesmerising pattern.

Other stars also accessorised with vintage pieces from the 1960s. Nominee Lilly Collins brought old Hollywood glamour with Harry Winston diamond drop earrings from 1967. Whilst presenter Kirsten Bell paired her elegant black ensemble with over 110 carats of Harry Winston diamonds including vintage three row diamond hoop earrings from 1963.

Lastly, jewels featured from the 19th century included a double row old mine diamond rivière necklace worn by the stunning Nicole Kidman, tear drop old mine diamond coronet cluster earrings worn by ‘The Crown’ star Claire Foy and a striking blue enamel and diamond target cluster ring worn by film star Winona Ryder.

Whether you hope to collect a vintage Tiffany’s piece, replicate the bold looks of the 1960s or sparkle in 19th century glamour the extensive collections at Berganza are sure to impress.
