 Description

Medieval silver gilt band ring. A smoothly conforming wide flat band, the convex middle section engraved around the full circumference with a repeating design, bordered to top and bottom by a double ridge, approximately 7mm in width. Tested silver gilt, approximately 3.00 grams in weight, circa 15th-16th century AD.

Accompanied by documentation from the British Museum and the Portable Antiquities Scheme stating that this ring was found whilst metal detecting at Hemingby, Lincolnshire, UK on 17th February, 2007. It is recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme under reference NLM-5185F2; and disclaimed under the Treasure Act, reference 2007 T100.

This ring is referenced in Hammond, B., 'Benet's Medieval Artefacts of England and The United Kingdom', 2015, p.165, item FR-6156.
