 Description

Sapphire and diamond crossover ring. Set with one round old cut natural unenhanced sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.50 carats, further set with one round transitional cut diamond in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 0.35 carats, flanked by eight round eight cut diamonds in open back grain settings with a combined weight of 0.10 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.45 carats, to an elegant crossover design featuring curving claws and polished edges, an intricately pierced gallery and open backholing, leading to asymmetric tapering shoulders and flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Marked 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, numbered '6773', C&F maker's mark for Cropp & Farr. Circa 1940.
