When you purchase a piece from Berganza, we always recommend you have it insured.
As soon as the full balance is settled and the piece is in your possession, our team will send you your valuation for insurance purposes via email.
Your insurance document will state a replacement figure of around 30% higher than what was paid, as antique jewellery often increases in value over the years.
The valuation will also contain all relevant details of your piece of jewellery, including any references for diamond or gemstone reports that may accompany it.
One of the many great aspects of owning antique jewellery is that it will appreciate in value over the years, proving a fantastic long term investment.
Often set with increasingly rare natural and enhanced gemstones, whose values are ever increasing, we recommend our customers get an updated valuation at least every 3-5 years to ensure that their piece is appropriately insured.
We provide updated valuations exclusively on pieces purchased from Berganza. Customers who visit annually for their check and clean are eligible for complimentary valuations. Otherwise, there is a charge of £75 per piece.
An updated valuation takes approximately 3 weeks to complete and will be sent to your email thereafter. Should you require a hard copy, please let us know and this can be arranged.
It is important for us to have seen the piece within the past 12 months to ensure that it is in good condition before issuing an updated valuation. Therefore we recommend booking a check and clean appointment for your piece to first be assessed by our specialists if we have not already seen it.
Should your piece be in good condition, we will proceed with the valuation, and if any repair work is required, the valuation will be sent on completion of this work.
Berganza does not offer insurance as a service, however you can add your piece to your home contents insurance in many cases. If you are looking for a separate insurer, we recommend T.H. March. T. H.
