 Description

Victorian Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with an approximate weight of 3.70 carats, flanked by two cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back claw settings with a combined approximate weight of 1.40 carats, adorned further with four round rose cut diamonds in open back rubover settings with a combined weight of 0.04 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.44 carats to an impressive carved half hoop design featuring curving claws, an open gallery with scrolling details and fancy open backholing, the trumpeting shoulders with ridged detail flow through to a solid chamfered edge shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1900, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) report #57842318

This sapphire has been assessed by Gemmological Certification Services as being natural with no heat, from the old Ceylon mines.
