 Description

Victorian ruby and diamond cluster ring. Set to centre with a cushion shape old cut natural unenhanced Burmese ruby in an open back claw setting, with an approximate weight of 1.50 carats, encircled by four round rose cut diamonds in open back rubover settings, with a combined weight of 0.04 carats, flanked to the top and botttom with one cushion shape old mine diamond in an open back claw setting, two in total, with a combined weight of 0.60 carats, additionally set with four round rose cut diamonds in open back silver cut-down settings, with a combined weight of 0.08 carats, further set with eight cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back silver cut-down settings, with a combined weight of 1.60 carats, flanked further in each shoulder with two cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back grain settings, four in total, with a combined weight of 0.20 carats. The total approximate diamond weight is 2.52 carats, to an impressive cluster design featuring curved claws, an intricately pierced scalloped gallery and fancy open backholing, leading to broad shoulders that flow through to a solid chamfered shank. Tested yellow gold and silver, circa 1890, accompanied by Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) report reference 5783-1539.
