 Comments

Incorporated in 1916 in Birmingham, William Griffiths & Sons had previously gone by the name of Walter G. Griffith (incorporated 1856). Located in the heart of the Birmingham jewellery quarter, the firm also exhibited at the 1929 British Industries fair.

In the 19th century, Birmingham was the birthplace of the industrial revolution with factories, workshops and crafts springing up all over, leading the city to become known as ‘the workshop of the world’. In their heyday in 1913, over 30,000 people were employed in Birmingham’s jewellery trade.
